Baby Girl Pink Painted Toy Trunk
You may recognize this toy trunk from my kiddo's Superhero Bedroom that we completed last year. This trunk has housed and acted as a corral for his toys for the last couple room, and was first apart of his Nautical Neverland room at our old apartment. My mom found it at a garage sale and it was originally silver. It actually looked like it was covered in foil and was just begging for a paint job. Now, he's grown out of having a toy box and we'll soon be replacing it with something a little more mature (& side note: I can't wait to show you his NEW room that we're starting on next week! ...yes, he's had 3 bedroom renos in in three years. I'm clearly a crazy person.).
I repainted it using DIY Home Chalk Distressing Paint by ArtMinds in Carnation. It took about 3-4 coats to cover the red it was previously painted and I didn't distress it, as I'm not a huge fan of the distressed look, but I absolutely love the milky finish that this paint gives. It's so soft and girly and can act as an eye catching accent piece, without overwhelming the room.
I then lined the inside of the lid with black and white striped vinyl just for a little something extra. It is actually left over from our Powder Room Makeover but wasn't usable due to the wall's texture. It ended up working out great for this project.
This is another piece that will be featured at The Vintage Market this weekend in Sparks, Nevada for sale! Hope you can make it!
