Gingerbread House Decorating Party (+ the secret to indestructibility)
Merry Christmas Eve! Before I drift off to sleep to wait for Santa to slide down our chimney, I wanted to share some photos from our gingerbread house decorating party last weekend!
I bought 2 sets of "Gingerbread House Villages" (found here) and assembled them the night before with my handsome hubby. I'm going to share with you a verrrrrryyy secret, super-secret, TOP-secret trick to assembling practically indestructible gingerbread houses.... *pause for dramatic effect*... caramel. Melt about 2 cups of sugar in a small sauce pan until it turns into a liquid. Use the liquid as your glue to hold the walls together instead of frosting... save your frosting to decorate ;)
A few of our friends came over with the intention to just hang out and drink spiked hot chocolate and exchange white elephant gifts, but I really wanted to bring everyone back to their childhoods and relax and be cozy. We all wore jammies, ate pizza, and then decorated mini gingerbread houses together. We ended the evening with white elephant and playing Battle of the Sexes. I feel incredibly blessed to have such amazing friends and to have been surrounded by them throughout the Christmas season.
I hope you all have had an amazing holiday season and that you wake up tomorrow surrounded by family, love, and warmth.
