New Year's Eve Time Capsules
If this were New Year's 2012, I'd probably be out at a loud nightclub, in a sparkly dress, and incredibly uncomfortable shoes. I'd probably have a headache, but I'd be insistent that I stayed out to see the fireworks display in downtown Reno and enjoy my complimentary glass of champagne while stressing about making sure that J & I got the PERFECT NYE kiss photo and who I could rely on to take it.
Currently, I'm in my pajamas. This marks my second New Year's Eve spent at home, and my first with a little one to accompany us. We had pizza for dinner and have gorged ourselves on popcorn, chips, candy, and all the fixins for ice cream sundaes are waiting in case we manage to come out of our sugar comas long enough to participate. I've hung balloons with each hour on them and the kiddo gets to pop one on the hour, every hour until next year. We're watching "Get Santa" on Netflix, and I just wrecked shop at Monopoly.
New Year's is definitely a whole different beast when there are children involved. To be honest, I wouldn't change it for the world, and I found a pretty cool way to commemorate it.
We found this awesome printable from Mortiz Fine Designs, and made 3 copies. We each took some time and filled them out and then shared them with each other. There were some laughs and smiles and tears, and then we out them into this time capsule...
Our time capsule is made from a Pringle container (Ev graciously offered to eat the Pringles insides), wrapped in scrapbook paper, and then filled with our goal sheets and a few trinkets that we thought best described our 2015: some bracelets Ev earned playing for the Junior Giants, a favor from our wedding, and a spare key to our new home. We'll put it away and open it next year after we make a new one for 2016!
I hope you all had a safe and Happy New Year's Eve, whether you're spending it turning up or turning down!
